Maria is a versatile singer and guitarist who performs acoustic ballads as well as her own songs in a unique storytelling style, with mellow vocals reminding of Joan Baez's smooth timbre and Norah Jones' calming tone.

Drawing from folk, pop and rock, Maria's original songs often reflect social ideas as well as her feelings about youth and relationships.

Since 2017, when Maria won her school's annual singing competition, she has performed at various open mics and events in the music scene of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. In 2019 Maria had her first gig abroad in Rhodes, Greece (performance list below).

Maria is currently studying A level music and recently completed her ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory. She is also working towards her London College of Music Grade 8 popular vocals exam.

Influences

Maria is largely inspired by artists and bands of the Golden Oldies, such as Carole King and Fleetwood Mac. In addition, Joni Mitchell's intricate and clever song writing has been hugely significant to Maria developing her own style.

Maria's song writing has been influenced by Laura Marling's poetic approach, as well as the use of open tunings.

She has recently began to study guitarists such as Martin Carthy, Nick Drake and John Martyn.
